U.S. demands that Abbas take action to curb terror

Palestinian officials said the Israeli arrests will not help preserve calm, but in Washington, US officials said the ball is in the court of Mahmoud Abbas. "We strongly condemn the terror actions of the last several days, directed at taking the lives of Israelis and sabotaging efforts for peace," said State Department spokesman Sean McCormack. "Now is the time for the Palestinian Authority to act against terrorists."
