Israel resumes targeted killings

Wednesday, June 22, 2005 |

Israel has resumed its controversial policy of assassinating Islamic Jihad terrorists and their leaders, after the group effectively dropped out of the cease-fire. Israel shelved the policy when the truce began four months ago, but officials say Israel has to take action after the Palestinian Authority failed to rein in terrorists. “Any means to neutralize the organization are relevant and possible," Public Security Minister Gideon Ezra told Army Radio. Five Palestinian terror factions responded that if Israel carries out the threat, they will resume suicide bombings and other attacks. So the truce is unraveling and in danger of collapse.
