Palestinian Authority co-opts terrorists

Thursday, June 23, 2005 |

The Palestinian Authority has made a deal with 220 terrorists in the town of Nablus who are wanted by Israel. The gunmen would hand in their weapons, and in turn be given jobs in the security forces. Palestinian officials say the move is in compliance with the US-backed roadmap peace plan, which demands that terrorist groups be disarmed. But Israel says it's a cop out. As one official put it: “Allowing terrorists to wear uniforms does not solve the problem.”
