Israel cancels China arms deal under U.S. pressure

Monday, June 27, 2005 |

Israel has cancelled an arms deal with China, after the US warned that it could upset the balance of power in Asia and harm the security of Taiwan. The US was so angry that it cut Israel out of the development of the jet fighter of the future. So Israel canceled a lucrative deal for attack drones and other advanced technology to China. Israel has apologized to the US, saying it did not mean to harm American interests.
