New Gaza outpost at clash site

Monday, June 27, 2005 |
Jewish settlers have set up a new outpost in the Gaza Strip, a day after scuffling with soldiers who came to bulldoze abandoned buildings. The clash raised fears of violence when the army begins removing more than 8,000 Gaza settlers from their homes in less than two months. The settlers say the new outpost is a symbol of resistance. "We have proven that the army cannot kick Jewish residents off their land," settlement activist Arik Yitzhaki told the Israeli news website “YNet.” "We can bring hundreds more civilians here to continue building on the land."
