Big US aid package expected after the withdrawal

Tuesday, June 28, 2005 |

The US is considering a $1 billion dollar aid package for Israel following the pullout from Gaza, according to a front page article in the “Jerusalem Post.” The money would be used to develop the Negev in southern Israel and the Galilee in the north. Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s vision is to get Israel out of Gaza which is overpopulated with Palestinians, and to develop other parts of the country instead. Israel says it’s prepared to pay a high price for peace, but it will send the bill to Uncle Sam.
