Israeli troops clashed with Jewish settlers in the Gaza Strip during an operation to remove the youths from an abandoned house. Some were dragged away kicking and screaming. Both sides traded blows. The settlers moved in to resist Israel's pullout from Gaza which is due to begin in less than two months. After the clash, young settlers threw stones at Palestinian residents in the area, sparking more violence that left at least three people wounded. Earlier, pullout opponents placed oil and nails on the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv highway, bringing traffic to a standstill during morning rush hour. The settlers blocked more roads during evening rush hour.
