Netanyahu Indictment, Conviction Said Just a Matter of Time

Sunday, February 03, 2019 |  Israel Today Staff

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has failed to convinced Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit (see photo, right side) to delay any decisions in the corruption cases targeting the Israeli leader until after the upcoming national election.

Though the two used to work well together, Netanyahu is now accusing Mandelblit of surrendering to pressure from his left-wing opponents, who are determined to unseat him as Israel's longest-serving prime minister at any cost.

Meanwhile, officials in Mandelblit's office last week insisted that at least one of the possible indictments against Netanyahu must move forward considering the seriousness of the evidence. According to these officials, Netanyahu's conviction is a slam dunk, and they don't want to give him time to pass new legislation granting himself immunity from prosecution.
