Sharon sends a tough message

Friday, July 01, 2005 |
The fact that it took commandos just half an hour to evacuate 150 Jewish nationalists from the barricaded Gaza hotel shows that Prime Minister Ariel Sharon means business. He sent a clear message that the evacuation of the Gaza settlements will begin on schedule in mid-August. Sharon described the squatters in the Gaza hotel and others involved in violent protests as a “gang of extremists.” “It's hooliganism,” Sharon said. “The Gaza withdrawal will be carried out because it's good for Israel.”
