Graveside Sermon

Sunday, February 10, 2019 |  Israel Today Staff

In the photo, ultra-Orthodox Jewish men are seen gathering around Rabbi Yechezkel Roth (Rata) during a ceremony at the tomb of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai in Meron, Israel.

Shimon bar Yochai, known by his acronym Rashbi, was a 2nd century sage attributed by many with the authorship of the Zohar, the chief book of Jewish mysticism.

Rabbi Roth and his followers have close ties to the Satmar, a large anti-Zionist sect of Orthodox Judaism.
