Israeli condolences to Britain

Friday, July 08, 2005 |
Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has expressed shock over the terrorist bombings in London during a phone call to the British Ambassador to Israel Simon McDonald. Sharon said it was an “awful crime committed against innocent Britons,” and he expressed condolences to the British people. The Prime Minister said that the entire world must unite in the war on terror. Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom said it was a “severe blow to London [and] to Britain." “People have always thought that terrorism is only Israel's problem,” Shalom told Israel Radio. "We have said that ultimately terrorism can strike any country in the world that has an ideology of freedom, of democracy [and]… openness.”
