Israel expects most settlers to leave before pullout

The top Israeli official coordinating the Gaza pullout expects that two-thirds of the 9,000 settlers slated for evacuation from Gaza and four settlements in northern Samaria will leave their homes before the pullout begins in mid-August. "In the two weeks before the disengagement there will be an exodus," Bassi told the Hebrew daily “Ha’aretz.” "The people who are now trickling out will become a flow. Two days before D-Day, the flow will become a tidal wave." Bassi said most of the remaining settlers would offer only passive resistance.
