Bassi also said that once the settlers are evacuated, their homes will be demolished. "To make sure the settlers do not return, [bulldozers] will advance with the security forces and demolish one settlement after another," he said. Bassi said greenhouses in the area would also be destroyed, despite calls by dovish officials like Deputy Premier Shimon Peres to leave them intact to boost the Palestinian economy. "We are going to leave behind an area,” he said, “that will look like an atom bomb was dropped on it."
