At Israel’s Wofson Hospital in Holon outside of Tel Aviv, five children from northern Iraq with congenital cardiac defects were brought to Israel for surgery that would give them a chance to lead normal lives. The ‘Save the Heart of a Child’ organization made the arrangements. Dr. Sion Houri, chief of intensive care medicine at Wolfson Medical Center, and Dr. Aki Tami, chief of pediatric cardiac medicine, traveled to Iraq to bring the youngsters to Israel for their life-saving surgeries.
