Doctors at Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer saved the life of a 14-year-old Palestinian hemophiliac who nearly bled to death when injections and an orthopedic surgery at east Jerusalem’s Makassed Hospital went sour. Medical coordinator for the Civil Administration, Dalia Bassa, heard of the case and immediately contacted Sheba Hospital. The Health Ministry wasted no time transferring Deeb Harfoush to an Israeli hospital for emergency treatment. Afterward, the Palestinian Authority offered to pay his medical fees, which totaled 120,000 shekels (about $26,500).
