Israeli plays in England

Wednesday, July 27, 2005 |

Twenty-five-year-old Israeli soccer player Yossi Benayoun (r.) began training with his new teammates on West Ham United last week. Coach Alan Pardew had a lot of good things to say about the international midfielder. “He thinks about the game and plays with a lot of intelligence, which are qualities the Premier League rewards,” said Pardew. The West Ham coach noted Yossi’s performance in a recent game against Switzerland. “He was outstanding, and we felt that a player of Yossi’s ability would be a huge value to us in the Premiership.” Other clubs were interested in Israel’s top midfielder, but Coach Pardew convinced him that West Ham had what he was looking for. “I had many offers, but West Ham attracted me most,” said Benayoun. “My dream has come true. It’s not about money. I want to be part of the club’s adventure back in the Premiership.”
