Netzer Hazani residents relinquish weapons

Friday, August 05, 2005 |

The same night that the shooting took place in northern Israel, residents of the Gush Katif community of Netzer Hazani turned in their personal handguns, as well as their army-issued rifles used for guard duty, emphasizing that this gesture was done voluntarily by the residents. "We are not in a war and not against the IDF. They are our soldiers. We will use our tools of faith to fight the expulsion. We have said love will conquer and this is not just a slogan. It is the truth. The army now will have to take the responsibility itself," a resident of Netzer Hazani told reporters.
