Mass prayer rallies at the Western Wall

Sunday, August 07, 2005 |

The Council of Jewish Communities in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza and the ultra-Orthodox Chabad-Lubavitch movement have joined forces to carry out three massive, anti-evacuation prayer rallies at the Western Wall this week. Security and government officials are concerned that tens of thousands of Jews rallying at the Western Wall, which is at the base of the Temple Mount, could escalate tensions with the Moslems. With less than eight days to go until the scheduled evacuation, the anti-disengagement activists are coming together to pray that God will miraculously intervene, even at the midnight hour.
