Mass prayer rally at the Western Wall

Thursday, August 11, 2005 |

Conservative sources estimated that more than 100,000 Jews converged on Jerusalem’s Old City last evening en route to the Kotel (Western Wall) for a mass prayer meeting. From ultra-Orthodox to modern Orthodox and everything in between, Israelis joined together to pray for God’s merciful intervention in the planned destruction of the Jewish communities in Gaza and northern Samaria. Packed in like sardines, participants prayed together for several hours, their young children in their arms or in strollers. Many cried unashamedly, raising their hands to heaven and lifting their voices in prayer.
