PM speaks to the nation

Thursday, August 11, 2005 |

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon also addressed the nation late last night in an attempt to settle disputes with his own Likud party. The Prime Minister accused former Finance Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who resigned rather than be part of the government’s “disengagement” from Gush Katif, of ‘fleeing’ from his responsibility at a crucial point in the country’s history. He accused Netanyahu of resigning for personal and political reasons rather than because of the pullout. Focusing primarily on politics, the Prime Minister told the audience it’s okay to protest, but not to rebel.
