Violent confrontations continue in Gaza City

Monday, August 22, 2005 |

As Israel withdraws from the Gaza Strip, violent confrontations between various militant factions continue on a daily basis. Yesterday, Fatah gunmen broke in on a Palestinian Legislative Council meeting in Gaza City demanding jobs and money. In a separate incident, masked gunmen fired on the home Col. Mahmoud Musleh, a commander in the Palestinian Authority’s Preventative Security Force. Lawlessness is a way of life in the Gaza Strip that doesn’t bode well for PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ plans for the area.
