Gush Katif being erased from Israeli maps

Even before all the homes, community centers and synagogues are demolished, Israel is erasing the Gush Katif Settlement Bloc from its official maps. “This is the first time I’ve had to remove the name of a town from the map of Israel,” said Chaim Sabaro, director general of the Center for Israel Maps, under the auspices of the government’s housing ministry. “We must remember the names of the Israeli towns there,” he said. “We must remember that people lived there, that they had a life there.”
