IDF holding off response to rocket attacks

Friday, August 26, 2005 |
Though Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said Israel would not withdraw under fire from Gaza and northern Samaria, rockets fell during and after the evacuation. It's nothing new for the city of Sderot near Gaza, though its mayor decried the lack of Israeli response. A rocket landed near the security fence in the western Negev. Another fell close to an army base in southern Israel, and another at Moshav Margaliot in the north. There have been no injuries in the latest attacks, so the IDF is monitoring them, but not responding. IDF officials said that retaliating to the attacks in Gaza does not serve Israel's interests at this time.
