In what some believe to be a challenge to the PA itself, Muhammad Deif, head of the militant wing of the Hamas terrorist group, released a videotaped speech. "I talk to you today thanking god [Allah] for his support for our people's jihad [holy war] and for the liberation of our beloved Gaza Strip. I pray to god [Allah] to assist us in liberating Jerusalem, the West Bank, Acre, Haifa, Jaffa, Safed, Nazareth, Askelon and the rest of Palestine," said Deif. Speaking specifically to Israel, Deif said, "We tell the Zionists who have desecrated our soil that all of Palestine will become a hell. Today you have left the hell of Gaza in shame and you are continuing to occupy Palestine. But we promise you that tomorrow all Palestine will be hell for you, god [Allah] willing."
