Likud court approves convening of central committee

Tuesday, August 30, 2005 |

Opponents of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon have succeeded in their efforts to convene the party's central committee. With the prospect of a Likud primary coming within 60 days after the committee convenes, tentatively set for September 26th, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon may face party primaries as early as November 22nd. "We have started on the way toward elections in the Likud, but we will only celebrate after we win and Sharon has been toppled," said Likud MK (member of Knesset [parliament]) Michael Ratzon, who spearheaded the effort to convene the committee.
