The group’s Website listed the names of top commanders, led by Mohammed Deif, a brutal terrorist who has escaped several Israeli assassination attempts. The names of seven commanders were listed, along with photos, biographies and interviews. The Website also gave detailed accounts of how attacks are planned. The posting is part of a Hamas campaign to claim responsibility for driving Israel out of Gaza. Hamas hopes to gain popularity and support ahead of Palestinian parliamentary elections scheduled for January.
