Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak plans to pay a rare visit to Israel. "President Mubarak will come for a visit," said Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom. Israeli media say the visit will take place in November, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the assassination of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. Mubarak’s only trip to Israel was for Rabin’s funeral, but he has shunned other opportunities to visit, a sign of the cold peace between the two countries. But Israel hopes that its Gaza pullout will improve ties with the Arab and Islamic world.
