The Israeli newspaper “Ha'aretz” and the “New York Times” say the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat died of a stroke, but it's not clear what disease led to the deterioration of his health. Citing medical records, the papers said there's no evidence to back up Palestinians claims that Arafat was poisoned by Israel. “Ha'aretz” quoted one of Arafat’s doctors as saying he had AIDS, but the “Times” said it's “highly unlikely” that was the cause of death. Arafat's widow Suha and other relatives have kept his medical records secret since his death in November of last year.
