Prime Minister Ariel Sharon met President Bush on the sidelines of the UN summit in New York marking the 60th anniversary of the creation of the world body. Bush praised Sharon for pulling out of Gaza. “I've said several times publicly that I am inspired by your courageous decision to give peace a chance,” Bush said. “And I know it was hard, but I admire your courage…Now is the time for Palestinians to come together and establish a government that will be peaceful with Israel. And the Gaza is a good chance to start.” Sharon told the President privately that there will be no further moves to advance the peace process until Gaza is quiet.
