Security Cabinet approves military operation

Sunday, September 25, 2005 |

The security Cabinet met last night in emergency session and decided on a series of measures aimed at halting Palestinian rocket attacks. Officials say it will be a prolonged operation, including air strikes and targeted killings of Islamic militants and their commanders. The operation will culminate in a ground assault unless the Palestinian Authority takes measures to prevent rocket attacks. In the biggest raids since a cease-fire was declared seven months ago, Israeli forces arrested more than 200 Palestinian terrorists in Judea and Samaria. They are members of Hamas and the Islamic Jihad.
