Israel has suspended its offensive against Palestinian terrorists, following a week of punishing air strikes in the Gaza Strip and arrest raids in Judea and Samaria. The Palestinian rocket attacks from Gaza that sparked the raids stopped, and Israel says the goal of the offensive was achieved. "[The Islamic terrorist group] Hamas has incurred heavy damage as a result of the escalation," Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz told the weekly Cabinet meeting. “The high price that Israel has exacted shows Hamas that the rules of the game in the Gaza Strip have changed." Israel has set out new rules of deterrence since it pulled out of Gaza three weeks ago: a harsh response to any Palestinian attacks.
