Sharon and Abbas to meet

Sunday, October 02, 2005 |

With the end of the offensive, both sides are taking steps to get the peace process back on track. Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas called Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, and they agreed to hold a summit in the near future. A summit set for today was postponed because of the fighting. Abbas conveyed best wishes for the Jewish New Year, and Sharon sent greetings for the Moslem holy month of Ramadan. Rosh Hashanah begins at sundown on Monday, and Ramadan starts later this week.
