Happy New Year!

Monday, October 03, 2005 |

The Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah is being observed in Israel under tight security. The army sealed off Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip, barring Palestinians from entering the country. There are fears that Palestinian terrorists could try to mar the holiday with attacks. Thousands of police and soldiers have been deployed near public places, synagogues and national parks. Jews dip apples in honey during the holiday, symbolizing a sweet new year. We wish all our subscribers and friends a “Shana Tova v’tikatavu!”--“Happy New Year and may you be inscribed” (in the Book of Life). (There will be no “israel today” update on Tuesday and Wednesday because of the holiday.)
