Hamas threatens to end ‘truce’

Thursday, November 03, 2005 |
The Islamic terrorist group Hamas says it will not renew the so-called “cease-fire” with Israel that is set to expire at the end of the year, unless Israel halts attacks and frees around 7,000 Palestinian prisoners. "Calm was conditional on the enemy stopping its aggression and freeing the detainees, all of the detainees,” said Hamas leader Mahmoud al-Zahar. “Nothing of that was achieved. We are not going to give calm without a price. The price is to release our people from Israeli detention and to stop the Israeli aggression." Egypt plans to convene talks with terror chiefs in the coming weeks to try to get them to renew the truce.
