Israel won’t cooperate on Palestinian elections

Sunday, November 06, 2005 |

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon says Israel will not ease roadblocks and other restrictions to facilitate Palestinian elections because of the participation of the Islamic terrorist group Hamas. "Israel's position is that it will not be able to cooperate with the elections if Hamas in its current form takes part," Sharon told ministers at the weekly Cabinet meeting. "There cannot be a situation where an armed organization...can take part in elections."
