No breakthrough on Gaza border talks

Israeli, Palestinian and European negotiators have failed to a achieve a breakthrough in a fresh round of talks on opening the volatile border between Egypt and the Gaza Strip. Israel has been under US and European pressure to open the border, which is known for weapons smuggling from Egypt to Palestinian terrorists in Gaza. The latest sticking point is the role of European inspectors. The European Union rejected Israel's demand that its inspectors arrest suspected terrorists. The Europeans see their role as supervisory.
