Sharon promises revenge

Tuesday, November 08, 2005 |

Sharon is promising revenge for the humiliating Knesset vote. He is threatening to call early elections, a move that would topple the Likud from power. Sharon’s aides have hinted that he could leave the Likud and form a moderate centrist party. The Gaza pullout has made Sharon extremely popular with the public at large, and polls show that such a party would win big in elections. But the rebels know that Sharon is reluctant to do that, so they hope to make it impossible for him to govern during his remaining year in office.
