Shalom to visit Tunisia

Tuesday, November 08, 2005 |

Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom will attend a conference in Tunisia next week, a sign of improving ties between Israel and the Arab world. Tunisia does not have diplomatic relations with the Jewish state. Israel's ties with Arab and Moslem nations plummeted when the Palestinian uprising erupted five years ago, but times have changed after it pulled out of Gaza. Since then, Egypt and Jordan have returned their ambassadors to Tel Aviv, and Pakistan has established official contacts.
