Philistine inscription found in Goliath's hometown

Friday, November 11, 2005 |
A small ceramic piece of shard was uncovered at Tel es-Safi, which is the Biblical city of Gath. Gath was a Philistine city and home to Israelite enemy, Goliath. An inscription was written on the piece of shard, more specifically two names, and one that resembles the name Goliath. While excavations were conducted under Bar-Ilan University, archaeologists claim that this piece of shard could also be 50 years after the time of David and Goliath. Nevertheless, it is the oldest find from of Philistine presence in the land of Israel, once again giving proof to Biblical evidence.
