Palestinian police have begun confiscating stolen Israeli cars in the town of Nablus. More than 400 crack police reinforcements were brought into the city for the crackdown. Palestinians working with Israeli crime rings steal thousands of cars from Israel every year, although Israel's security barrier along the outskirts of Judea and Samaria has greatly reduced this trend. Police estimate that thousands of stolen Israeli cars are located in Nablus. It’s one of the few tangible steps Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas has taken to fulfill his pledge to restore law and order.
