Israel has handed over the bodies of three gunmen from the Islamic terrorist group Hizbollah in Lebanon, who were killed in a cross border attack earlier this week. The bodies were handed over to the International Red Cross, which brought them into Lebanon for a mass funeral where they were hailed as “martyrs.” The three men were killed in a failed attempt to kidnap Israeli soldiers. The attack sparked the most serious border clashes in five months. Israel said it agreed to an urgent request from Lebanon to return the bodies, with the aim of easing tension on the border. Israel has warned the Lebanese government to rein in the Syrian and Iranian-backed Hizbollah, which controls South Lebanon.
