Gush Katif exhumation photos circulate on the Internet

Despite promises made to the families of the deceased persons exhumed from graves in Gush Katif for reburial in Israel, senior officers of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) Chief Rabbinate posed for photographs during the exhuming, and the pictures have since appeared on several Internet sites. One of the photographs shows senior Rabbinate officers smiling for the camera, with coffins and open graves in the background, Israel Radio said. The head of the IDF's human resources department, Major General Eleazar Stern, Monday ordered an investigation into how photographs taken during the exhumation of the bodies were made public. In a special announcement, the IDF said it “sees publication of the photographs as a very serious matter and regrets any distress the publication may have caused the families.”
