Senior Hamas operative enters Gaza

Thursday, December 01, 2005 |
Just days after the Rafah border crossing was reopened, another senior operative from the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas crossed back into the Gaza Strip after being deported years ago. Many Hamas members who have been living abroad have returned to the Gaza Strip since Israel relinquished control over the Rafah terminal. Fadel Zahar is the first high-ranking Hamas member known to return to Gaza since the border crossing was reopened last week. Zahar was deported in 1991. Meanwhile, the political leader of Hamas said it would not renew a truce with Israel when it expires at the end of the year.
