Approximately 1,000 people gather in front of Sharon’s official Jerusalem residence to mark 100 days since disengagement when Israel pulled its residents out of the Gaza Strip. The protest was designed to raise awareness of the evacuees plight as many still live in hotels and haven’t received the full compensation they were promised. “One hundred days have past since thousands of Jews were placed in hotels, yeshivas and ulpanim (Hebrew language schools),” said former Gaza Coast Regional Council Head Avner Shimoni. Protesters placed themselves in gold cages representing the hotels they currently live in. One sign read: “Locked up in a hotel for 100 days – did you (Sharon) banish and abandon as well? Where is the determination, and where is the sensitivity?”
