Successful test of Arrow anti-missile system

Friday, December 02, 2005 |

Israel has carried out a successful test of its new missile defense shield. An Arrow missile intercepted and destroyed an incoming ballistic missile, in the 14th and most complicated test yet. The Arrow anti-missile system is jointly developed by the US and Israel and is already operational, but it is being continuously improved. Ballistic missiles are seen as the most serious strategic threat facing Israel. The army says Syria and Iran have missiles tipped with chemical warheads capable of hitting the Jewish state. The test missile that was destroyed is similar to Iran’s long-range Shihab 3 missile.
