EU won't publish report criticizing Israel

The European Union chose not to endorse or publish a controversial draft report criticizing Israel’s building activity in east Jerusalem and the security barrier. The report became public when it was leaked to the news media. Israeli officials welcomed the decision of the EU’s 25 foreign ministers to not publish it. Israeli diplomats objected to the report and suggested its formal adoption could threaten relations between Israel and the EU. British Foreign Minister Jack Straw referred to the “changed circumstances in Israel and the Occupied Territories,” adding that the EU would “continue to make strong representations to the government of Israel about the matter in the normal way.”
