Prime Minister Ariel Sharon may have suffered from a stroke, but his party, Kadima, has gained in the polls. The momentary scare over the prime minister’s health caused a slight drop in the polls but, he has regained what he lost plus one extra seat in the Israeli parliament. According to a poll conducted by the Maariv newspaper, Kadima would win 42 Knesset seats if the election were held today - one of the highest results recorded since the prime minister bolted the Likud and formed the party four weeks ago. In another newspaper poll, 91 percent of respondents said Sharon’s stroke would not influence their votes. Sharon was scheduled to be released from the hospital today.
