Bush advises Sharon on matters of health, not state

Wednesday, December 21, 2005 |

US President George Bush called Prime Minister Ariel Sharon following Sharon's release from the hospital after treatment for a mild stroke to tell him: eat less, work less and exercise more, a government statement said. The president also reportedly told Sharon that he needs him healthy, and said he hoped to see results of physical exercise and weight loss when the two meet in a couple of months. Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice lauded Sharon and hinted that the US is backing him in upcoming elections. “The president said some time ago, we believe that Prime Minister Sharon is somebody with a vision for a better life for Israelis based on a two-state solution,” Rice said.
