Netanyahu to challenge Sharon, Peretz to debate

Monday, December 26, 2005 |

Likud chairman Benjamin Netanyahu wants to debate Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Labor chairman Amir Peretz on live television. A Netanyahu spokesman said a debate would force Sharon to give direct answers as to where he intends to draw the border for a future Palestinian state. But Sharon’s associates rejected Netanyahu’s request, saying that debates were traditionally held between serious candidates for prime minister. “(Netanyahu) is the national stand-up performer and everything he does is a show. Sharon will say what he has to say the way he always does without giving in to (Netanyahu)'s tricks,” a Sharon associate said.
