Guide tracks US lawmakers’ votes on Israel

Wednesday, December 28, 2005 |
A conservative lobbying group in America has produced a guide including for the first time the voting record of legislators on Israel. In its voting guide, published every two years, the Christian Coalition traditionally covers American domestic issues. The decision to include lawmakers’ voting records on Israel was requested by the Israeli Knesset committee , the Christian Allied Caucus. “This puts Israel at center-stage in the voting pattern of the Christian community in America,” said Caucus Director Josh Reinstein. Founded in 1989 by Rev. Pat Robertson, the Christian Coalition has 2 million supporters. It distributed 70 million voter guides prior to last year’s presidential elections. “It is very important for people of faith to know where our legislators stand on support for Israel,” said Roberta Combs, president of the group. “Our heart is with Israel.”
